Stephen Gillis

We recently had the pleasure of capturing just a few of the many faces of @stephengillis – coach, optimist, fighter, and a whole lot else.

You may have heard of Stephen - he made national headlines in 2018 when his VMHA PeeWee A2 Spirit hockey team posted a video plea to find their beloved coach a kidney donor. The video went viral, creating a buzz for organ donation across the country.

Finding a donor for Stephen was made more difficult because he has O type blood.

Stephen received excellent news that his old friend Michael is a match for donation and in the fall of 2019, he received his new kidney.

Stephen could not wait to get back to coaching his minor hockey players.
